I have a charge off thats been well over 7years. I contacted the credit card company and they said there was no record of me on file. however there is a past due amount. I disputed all three CRA and one deleted the item while the others to did not. why is it that one one deleted and the others not.

First, what are you calling a charge-off. Is it a collection item or just a regular trade?

There is a difference in the credit reporting arena. With a trade item that is negative, it should fall off 7 years from the delinquency date, which can be any date they want.

If it is a collection trade, usually, it will fall off 7 years & 30 days after the account was listed for collections.

Please tell me more. Who does the trade line belong to?

The information should be removed after 7 yrs from of the DOLD or date of last activity. One agency deleting it doesn't mean it shouldn't be there, they could've ran out of time to verify it's accuracy (30-45 day timeframe).

I would recommend getting documentation from the CC company supporting your position and sending that to the CRAs with your disputes. Be sure the docs have the companies letter head and support your claim.

Date of last activity could be the "date you last charged" or "date you last paid."
